Adding a new product in Supplier Management is a fundamental step in managing your products. The following article will walk you through the simple steps of adding a new product, ensuring that you can easily incorporate and manage it within your quality and compliance framework.
1. Adding a Product
- To add a new product, select the "Add New Product" window under Product Information in the menu.
- Enter the Product Name and Product Code.
- Then select the Product Type, this is a drop-down of four options:
Important: These fields are mandatory.
- Enter the additional product information if needed, see below for further drop-down details.
- Click Save.
2. Lead Buyer & Lead Technical
A Lead Buyer in Quality Management is responsible for managing purchasing and product quality. Select a Lead Buyer from the drop-down menu that aligns with your new product:
A Lead Technical is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of product quality and compliance. Select a Lead Technical from the drop-down menu that aligns with your new product:
3. Sites Supplying to
Select the sites the new product will be supplied to:
Note: You can select multiple sites.
3.1. Supplier Code
The supplier code is a unique identifier used to keep track of product specifications, quality and compliance data and supplier performance metrics.
4. Product Categories
A product category is a way to group similar products together, making it easier to manage and track them. Select a Product Category that fits your new product:
Product Subcategory
A Product Subcategory is a more specific classification, helping to organise and differentiate products with similar characteristics or purposes.
If required, select a Product Subcategory, for example "Dry Goods" could have a subcategory of "Herbs and Spices":
Note: Further sub categorisation is available by selecting a Product Sub Sub Category.
